Beija-Flor Recognized as Cultural Heritage of Nilópolis in Historic Solemn Session at the City Council

Na última segunda-feira, 7 de julho, a Câmara Municipal de Nilópolis realizou uma sessão solene emocionante em homenagem à Beija-Flor, consagrando a escola como um dos maiores símbolos da identidade cultural do município. Durante a cerimônia, foram oficializadas três conquistas marcantes: o reconhecimento da Beija-Flor como Patrimônio Cultural e Imaterial de Nilópolis, a inclusão do seu símbolo na Lei Orgânica da cidade, e a criação da Avenida Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, novo nome da antiga Rua Pracinha Wallace Paes Leme — via onde está localizada a quadra da escola.
A sessão reuniu figuras emblemáticas da agremiação, como o casal de mestre-sala e porta-bandeira Claudinho e Selminha Sorriso, os intérpretes Nino e Jéssica Martins, as ex-rainhas de bateria Neide Tamborim e Sonia Capeta, além do carnavalesco João Vitor Araújo. Também esteve em destaque o troféu de campeã do Carnaval 2025, exposto no plenário como símbolo recente da grandiosidade da azul e branco.
Para o presidente da Beija-Flor, Almir Reis, o momento é de emoção e reconhecimento: “Esse momento representa muito para todos nós. É o reconhecimento da importância da Beija-Flor não só como escola de samba, mas como força cultural e social de Nilópolis. Essa conquista é, sobretudo, consequência do trabalho incansável do nosso eterno presidente de honra, Anísio Abraão David, que dedicou a vida à Beija-Flor e à valorização da nossa cidade.”
Com raízes profundas em Nilópolis e reconhecimento nacional e internacional, a Beija-Flor segue fazendo história — agora com seu legado eternizado nas leis, nas ruas e no coração da cidade.

Beija-Flor Recognized as Cultural Heritage of Nilópolis in Historic Solemn Session at the City Council
This past Monday, July 7, the Nilópolis City Council held a moving solemn session in honor of Beija-Flor, officially recognizing the samba school as one of the greatest symbols of the municipality’s cultural identity. During the ceremony, three major achievements were made official: the recognition of Beija-Flor as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Nilópolis, the inclusion of its symbol in the city’s Organic Law, and the creation of Avenida Beija-Flor de Nilópolis — the new name for the former Pracinha Wallace Paes Leme Street, where the school’s headquarters is located.
The session brought together emblematic figures from the samba school, including the mestre-sala and porta-bandeira duo Claudinho and Selminha Sorriso, singers Nino and Jéssica Martins, former drum queens Neide Tamborim and Sonia Capeta, as well as carnival designer João Vitor Araújo. Also on display was the 2025 Carnival championship trophy, showcased in the council chamber as a recent symbol of the school’s greatness.
For Beija-Flor president Almir Reis, the moment was filled with emotion and recognition:
“This moment means so much to all of us. It is a recognition of Beija-Flor’s importance not only as a samba school, but as a cultural and social force in Nilópolis. This achievement is, above all, the result of the tireless work of our eternal honorary president, Anísio Abraão David, who dedicated his life to Beija-Flor and to the appreciation of our city.”
With deep roots in Nilópolis and national and international acclaim, Beija-Flor continues to make history — now with its legacy enshrined in the laws, streets, and the heart of the city.
