Cacique da São José homenageia Arthur Maia
A escola de samba Cacique da São José faz aniversário junto com Niterói e festejou em dobro. A agremiação celebrou os 22 anos, no Clube Aftae, no Centro, ao som do samba do enredo “Arthur Maia, Sempre Vivo” e com reforços para o Carnaval 2026. Foram apresentadas a rainha Ana Pimentel e a musa Mayara Coelho, com a porta-bandeira Bia Strella e o mestre-sala Kayo Figueiredo. O carnavalesco Renato Figueiredo também está na escola, depois de passagens pela União de Maricá, e assina o enredo que homenageia o baixista Arthur Maia (1962–2018). A Cacique será a primeira escola a desfilar no dia 6 de fevereiro, na passarela do Caminho Niemeyer, na Série Ouro de Niterói, para onde subiu este ano.
Os familiares de Arthur Maia estão empolgados com a homenagem e participando das atividades da escola. Recentemente, eles receberam a visita de uma delegação da escola, no bairro Maravista, na casa onde o músico viveu. No encontro, o carnavalesco explicou o enredo, que desenvolve a partir da dedicatória da mãe de Arthur, Nancy, escrita em um antigo caderno de músicas, emocionando os irmãos do homenageado, Mauro e Andrea, e as filhas dele, Júlia e Manuela.
Além dos parentes de Arthur, a festa de aniversário da Cacique, dia 22 de novembro, reuniu representantes da Velha-Guarda da Viradouro, das coirmãs Combinado do Amor e Bugres do Cubango, e dos blocos Os Trabalhistas Estão Chegando e Filhos da Pauta.
“Agradecemos a todos que participaram do nosso encontro e aos que farão parte do nosso Carnaval 2026, que traz essa emocionante homenagem a Arthur Maia”, diz a diretora executiva da Cacique da São José, Monica Miranda.

Cacique da São José Pays Tribute to Arthur Maia
The samba school Cacique da São José shares its anniversary with the city of Niterói — and this year, the celebration was twice as special. The school marked its 22nd anniversary at Clube Aftae, in the city center, with the soundtrack of the samba-enredo “Arthur Maia, Sempre Vivo” and with new additions for Carnival 2026.
During the event, the school presented its Queen, Ana Pimentel, and its Muse, Mayara Coelho, alongside flag bearer Bia Strella and master of ceremonies Kayo Figueiredo. Carnavalesco Renato Figueiredo has also joined the school after previous work with União de Maricá, and he signs the storyline that pays tribute to bassist Arthur Maia (1962–2018).
Cacique will be the first school to parade on February 6, along the Caminho Niemeyer parade route, in Niterói’s Série Ouro, where the school was promoted this year. Arthur Maia’s family is enthusiastic about the tribute and has been actively participating in the school’s activities. Recently, they received a visit from a delegation of the school in the Maravista neighborhood, at the house where the musician once lived.
During this meeting, the carnavalesco explained the storyline, which he developed based on a dedication written by Arthur’s mother, Nancy, in an old music notebook — a moment that moved the honoree’s siblings, Mauro and Andrea, as well as his daughters, Júlia and Manuela.
In addition to Arthur’s relatives, the anniversary celebration on November 22 brought together representatives from Viradouro’s Velha Guarda, the sister schools Combinado do Amor and Bugres do Cubango, and the street blocs Os Trabalhistas Estão Chegando and Filhos da Pauta.
“We are grateful to everyone who joined us at this gathering and to all who will be part of our 2026 Carnival, which brings this heartfelt tribute to Arthur Maia,” said Cacique da São José’s executive director, Monica Miranda.
