Carnaval 2026: sorteio define grupos que disputarão o concurso da Corte Real

Com participação de Milton Cunha, diretor artístico da Corte, o evento foi realizado no setor 11 do Sambódromo

A Riotur realizou, na noite desta quinta-feira (02), no Sambódromo, o sorteio para definir a ordem das apresentações dos candidatos e das candidatas à Corte Real do Carnaval 2026. O processo vai eleger o Rei Momo, a Rainha e as duas princesas. Também haverá a escolha da Corte Real LGBT+, que coroará um Muso, uma Musa e uma Pessoa Não Binária.

Compondo a mesa de abertura, estiveram presentes o presidente da Riotur Bernardo Fellows, o vice-presidente Luis Monsores, o Diretor de Operações Flávio Teixeira e o Diretor-artístico do evento Milton Cunha. O sorteio foi conduzido por Wilson Neto, Rei Momo 2022, e Bianca Monteiro, Rainha de bateria da Portela, dando início a disputa pela coroação do Carnaval 2026. 

Ao todo, o Concurso conta com 102 candidatos, sendo 45 candidatas ao posto de Rainha do Carnaval e 16 para o trono de Rei, além de 12 para Musa, 19 para Muso e 10 para Pessoa Não Binária.

“É uma alegria enorme dar início oficial ao Carnaval 2026 com o tradicional Concurso da Corte Real. Este é um momento que celebra nossa cultura popular, valoriza o turismo e envolve diretamente o povo carioca. Confira o cronograma das próximas fases do Concurso Corte Real Carnaval 2026:

As eliminatórias para a definição do Rei e Rainha do Carnaval acontecem nos próximos dias 09 e 10 de outubro. Entre os Reis, ao todo 10 candidatos se classificam para a semifinal. Entre as Rainhas, serão ao todo 20 classificadas.

As semifinais acontecerão nos dias 16 e 17/10. No dia 16, os 19 candidatos a Muso, 12 a Musa e 10 a Pessoa Não-Binária se apresentam, e deles, 5 Musos, 5 Musas e 5 Pessoas Não-Binárias classificam-se para a final.

No dia 17, 10 candidatos a Rei e 20 a Rainha se apresentam, com 5 Reis e 10 Rainhas indo à final.

As finais estão marcadas para os dias 23 e 24/10, com a Corte LGBT+ sendo decidida na primeira data. Todas as etapas e finais serão realizadas na Cidade do Samba. Em todas as etapas, o público poderá curtir apresentações musicais, que em breve serão anunciadas, e se emocionar com as diversas homenagens.

Com o tema “Celebrando a Ancestralidade”, cada noite do concurso será uma homenagem a figuras emblemáticas do Carnaval carioca: Lygia Santos, Bira Presidente, Márcia Lage, Preta Gil, Maria Augusta, Rosa Magalhães, Arlindo Cruz, Gilsinho da Portela, entre outras personalidades inesquecíveis.

Carnival 2026: Drawing Defines the Groups Competing for the Royal Court Contest
With the participation of Milton Cunha, Artistic Director of the Court, the event was held at Sector 11 of the Sambadrome
Riotur held, on the evening of Thursday (02), at the Sambadrome, the drawing to determine the order of performances of the candidates for the Royal Court of Carnival 2026. The contest will elect the King Momo, the Queen, and two Princesses. There will also be the selection of the LGBT+ Royal Court, which will crown a Muso (male muse), a Musa (female muse), and a Non-Binary Person.
At the opening table were Riotur President Bernardo Fellows, Vice-President Luis Monsores, Operations Director Flávio Teixeira, and Artistic Director of the event Milton Cunha. The drawing was conducted by Wilson Neto, King Momo 2022, and Bianca Monteiro, Queen of Drums of Portela, officially launching the competition for the Carnival 2026 coronation.
In total, the contest features 102 candidates: 45 vying for the title of Carnival Queen, 16 for King, 12 for Musa, 19 for Muso, and 10 for Non-Binary Person.
“It is a great joy to officially kick off Carnival 2026 with the traditional Royal Court Contest. This is a moment that celebrates our popular culture, strengthens tourism, and directly engages the people of Rio. Carnival is a fundamental engine for the city: it generates jobs, boosts tourism, and reinforces our image in Brazil and around the world. I wish all the candidates good luck and success in this mission so important for the greatest celebration on the planet,” said Bernardo Fellows, president of Riotur.
Schedule of the next stages of the Carnival 2026 Royal Court Contest:
• The eliminations to determine the King and Queen of Carnival will take place on October 9 and 10. Among the Kings, 10 candidates will qualify for the semifinals. Among the Queens, 20 candidates will move forward.
• The semifinals will be held on October 16 and 17.
• On October 16, the 19 Muso, 12 Musa and 10 Non-Binary candidates will compete, with 5 from each category advancing to the final.
• On October 17, 10 Kings and 20 Queens will perform, with 5 Kings and 10 Queens qualifying for the final.
• The finals are scheduled for October 23 and 24, with the LGBT+ Royal Court decided on the first date.
All stages and finals will be held at Cidade do Samba. Each stage will feature musical performances, to be announced soon, along with touching tributes.
With the theme “Celebrating Ancestrality”, each night of the contest will honor iconic figures of Rio’s Carnival: Lygia Santos, Bira Presidente, Márcia Lage, Preta Gil, Maria Augusta, Rosa Magalhães, Arlindo Cruz, Gilsinho da Portela, among others.
