A narrativa, que resgata a força e o protagonismo de uma figura histórica apagada pelo tempo, ganha novo significado na avenida ao se conectar com a ancestralidade e a resistência do povo negro. Após um período de recolhimento do samba e das redes sociais, Claudia marca seu retorno à Sapucaí em um papel que simboliza renascimento, responsabilidade e reconexão com sua própria trajetória artística.
“Carlota é um grito de liberdade. Representá-la é um ato de reverência às mulheres negras que transformaram dor em resistência e deixaram um legado de força e dignidade”, afirma Claudia.
A artista, apaixonada pela Paraíso do Tuiuti e profundamente ligada à escola, reforça que este retorno também é movido por afeto e história. “A Tuiuti é um lugar onde meu coração pulsa mais forte. Sou comadre do Mestre Marcão, do presidente Renato Thor e madrinha de coração da Mayara Lima. Estar com eles é sentir uma energia que envolve respeito, amor e família. Hoje, fazer parte do desfile com a responsabilidade de interpretar uma mulher tão poderosa como Carlota Lucumí é um misto de emoção e compromisso. Influencer and model Claudia Santos will be a special highlight for Paraíso do Tuiuti in Carnival 2026, portraying Carlota Cubana — a character inspired by Carlota Lucumí, an enslaved African woman who led the 1843 Triunvirato Rebellion, one of the major milestones in Cuba’s fight for freedom.
The narrative, which revives the strength and protagonism of a historical figure erased by time, gains new depth on the avenue as it reconnects with the ancestry and resistance of the Black people.
After a period away from samba and social media, Claudia marks her return to Sapucaí in a role that symbolizes rebirth, responsibility, and reconnection with her own artistic journey.
“Carlota is a cry for freedom. Portraying her is an act of reverence for the Black women who transformed pain into resistance and left a legacy of strength and dignity,” Claudia says.
Deeply passionate about Paraíso do Tuiuti and strongly connected to the school, the artist emphasizes that this return is also driven by affection and history. “Tuiuti is a place where my heart beats stronger. I’m a close friend of Mestre Marcão and President Renato Thor, and a godmother at heart to Mayara Lima. Being with them is to feel an energy filled with respect, love, and family. Today, taking part in the parade with the responsibility of portraying such a powerful woman as Carlota Lucumí is a mix of emotion and commitment. I want the audience to understand the message, feel this strength, and live this story with me.”
