O governador destacou a atuação dos agentes na maior operação já realizada pelo Estado do Rio
O governador do Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, participou nesta quinta-feira (06/11) da Missa de Sétimo Dia em memória dos quatro agentes de segurança pública que perderam a vida durante a Operação Contenção nos complexos da Penha e do Alemão. A cerimônia, realizada no Theatro Municipal, no Centro do Rio, reuniu autoridades estaduais, familiares, representantes das forças de segurança e centenas de pessoas.
Em seu pronunciamento, o governador prestou solidariedade às famílias e reforçou o compromisso de sua gestão com a valorização das forças policiais.
– Não há palavra que amenize a dor que todos sentimos. Aos 2.500 homens e mulheres que participaram da Operação Contenção, digo que algo profundo aconteceu. Há um movimento de transformação, que marca a história do nosso estado. Hoje o momento é de luto, mas também de reconhecer a bravura dos policiais. E rogar a Deus que conforte o coração das famílias enlutadas. Em honra à memória dos nossos heróis, afirmo que não vamos retroceder no combate à criminalidade – afirmou Cláudio Castro.
O governador também destacou a atuação dos agentes que integraram a Operação Contenção, classificada como a maior ação policial da história do Estado do Rio. No final a solenidade, Castro prestou homenagem aos parentes dos policiais que morreram em combate e aos agentes que ficaram feridos durante a operação, incluindo os que participaram da missa e os que seguem hospitalizados.
Os sargentos Cleiton Serafim Gonçalves e Heber Carvalho da Fonseca, ambos lotados no Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE), foram vitimados fatais na área de mata conhecida como Vacaria. Na mesma região, os criminosos atacaram equipes da Polícia Civil, resultando nas mortes do chefe de investigação da 53ª DP (Mesquita), Marcus Vinícius Cardoso de Carvalho, e do policial civil Rodrigo Velloso Cabral, da 39ª DP (Pavuna).

The governor highlighted the role of the officers in the largest operation ever carried out by the State of Rio
The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, attended on Thursday (Nov 6) the Seventh-Day Mass in memory of the four public security officers who lost their lives during Operation Containment in the Penha and Alemão complexes. The ceremony, held at the Theatro Municipal in downtown Rio, brought together state authorities, families, representatives of the security forces, and hundreds of attendees.
In his speech, the governor expressed his solidarity with the families and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to valuing the state’s police forces.
“There are no words that can ease the pain we all feel. To the 2,500 men and women who took part in Operation Containment, I say that something profound has happened. There is a movement of transformation marking the history of our state. Today is a moment of mourning, but also a time to recognize the bravery of our police officers and to ask God to comfort the hearts of the grieving families. In honor of the memory of our heroes, I state that we will not back down in the fight against crime,” said Cláudio Castro.
The governor also emphasized the performance of the officers who took part in Operation Containment, described as the largest police operation in the history of the State of Rio.
At the end of the ceremony, Castro paid tribute to the relatives of the officers who died in action and to those who were injured during the operation, including both those attending the mass and those still hospitalized.
Sergeants Cleiton Serafim Gonçalves and Heber Carvalho da Fonseca, both members of the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE), were fatally wounded in a forested area known as Vacaria. In the same region, criminals ambushed Civil Police teams, resulting in the deaths of Marcus Vinícius Cardoso de Carvalho, head investigator of the 53rd Police Precinct (Mesquita), and Rodrigo Velloso Cabral, a civil police officer from the 39th Precinct (Pavuna).
