O documentário “Xicas: Travestis na Avenida” chega a Niterói em exibição especial nesta sexta-feira, dia 28 de novembro, e marca um momento histórico para a memória travesti no Brasil. A obra, dirigida por Asaph Luccas com co-roteiro de Hela Santana, recupera trajetórias que atravessam séculos, desde Xica Manicongo, primeira travesti registrada na história do país, até a explosão política e estética do desfile do Paraíso do Tuiuti, na Sapucaí, em 2025. O filme reafirma que a arte travesti é força coletiva, é herança viva e é movimento que nunca deixou de existir, mesmo quando o país tentou apagá-la.
Mais que um registro, “Xicas: Travestis na Avenida” é um convite ao reconhecimento de um Brasil que insiste em nascer das margens e empurrar o centro para se reinventar. The documentary “Xicas: Travestis na Avenida” arrives in Niterói for a special screening this Friday, November 28, marking a historic moment for travesti memory in Brazil. Directed by Asaph Luccas, with a co-script by Hela Santana, the film revisits journeys that span centuries — from Xica Manicongo, the first travesti recorded in the country’s history, to the political and aesthetic explosion of Paraíso do Tuiuti’s 2025 parade on Sapucaí.
The film reaffirms that travesti art is a collective force, a living heritage, and a movement that has never ceased to exist, even when the country attempted to erase it. More than a record, “Xicas: Travestis na Avenida” is an invitation to recognize a Brazil that insists on being born from the margins and pushes the center to reinvent itself.
