No próximo sábado, 26 de abril, tem Quintal da Magia na Rua. A edição presta homenagem a São Jorge, o santo guerreiro que representa uma das tradições mais potentes do grupo — na fé e na identidade simbólica de milhares de brasileiros. O evento será realizado a partir das 18h, na Rua Conde de Agrolongo, na altura do número 223, na Penha – Zona Norte do Rio.

Mais do que uma homenagem, o evento reafirma a origem do grupo. Foi a partir das primeiras rodas na rua, em meio aos vizinhos e aos batuques espontâneos, que o Quintal da Magia se consolidou como um dos grupos de samba mais expressivos da atualidade. Desde então, a proposta segue sendo a mesma: levar música e ancestralidade ao centro da vida cotidiana, com o samba de raiz como fio condutor.

Nesta edição, a figura de São Jorge é convocada como símbolo de proteção, luta e abertura de caminhos. O repertório trará composições autorais do grupo e sambas que dialogam com a fé popular e a tradição cultural. A presença do público, elemento central em todas as edições, reforça a dimensão comunitária do projeto, que se mantém fiel ao espírito de roda, partilha e pertencimento.

“Celebrar São Jorge na rua é retornar ao princípio de tudo. É lembrar que o Quintal nasceu do gesto simples de reunir gente em torno do samba e da fé. É nesse gesto que seguimos firmes”, afirma Jorge Alexandre, cantor e um dos fundadores do grupo.

A ação tem apoio da Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro, por meio da Subprefeitura da Zona Norte, e integra o calendário de atividades culturais promovidas pelo grupo ao longo do mês de abril, tradicionalmente intenso para o coletivo.

This Saturday, April 26th, “Quintal da Magia na Rua” takes place with a special edition honoring Saint George — the warrior saint who embodies one of the group’s strongest traditions, both in faith and symbolic identity for thousands of Brazilians. The event kicks off at 6 PM on Rua Conde de Agrolongo, near number 223, in the Penha neighborhood – North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
More than just a tribute, the event reaffirms the group’s origins. It was through its first street gatherings — surrounded by neighbors and spontaneous percussion — that “Quintal da Magia” established itself as one of the most influential samba groups today. Since then, its mission has remained the same: to bring music and ancestry into the heart of everyday life, with traditional samba as its core.
In this edition, the image of Saint George is invoked as a symbol of protection, struggle, and the opening of paths. The repertoire will include original compositions by the group as well as sambas that engage with popular faith and cultural traditions. The presence of the public — always central to these gatherings — reinforces the project’s community-oriented spirit, remaining true to the essence of the roda: sharing, belonging, and connection.
“Celebrating Saint George in the street is about returning to our roots. It’s about remembering that Quintal was born from the simple act of gathering people around samba and faith. That’s the spirit that keeps us strong,” says Jorge Alexandre, singer and one of the group’s founders.
The initiative is supported by the City of Rio de Janeiro, through the North Zone Subprefecture, and is part of the group’s cultural programming throughout April — traditionally an important month for the collective.
