Verde e branca do Morro da Formiga vai fazer uma releitura do enredo sobre São Jorge, apresentado em 2007.
Com garra, fé e a força de um guerreiro, o GRESE Império da Tijuca anuncia o seu enredo para o Carnaval 2026. Sob a presidência de Thiago Carvalho e com o talento criativo do carnavalesco Jorge Knnawer, a escola do Morro da Formiga prepara um mergulho épico na trajetória de um dos símbolos mais poderosos da devoção popular brasileira, reeditando o enredo de 2007, ano em que falou sobre São Jorge.
“A Devoção em Verde e Branco: O Retorno de São Jorge ao Morro da Formiga”, narra a saga do Santo Guerreiro que desafiou a opressão, enfrentou batalhas em nome da justiça e foi eternizado como protetor dos humildes e símbolo de resistência durante o período em que diocleciano, Imperador de Roma dominou a região da Capadócia.
Anteriormente desenvolvido pelo carnavalesco Sandro Gomes, o enredo traz uma nova roupagem com São Jorge como figura central de uma celebração repleta de axé, devoção e força espiritual que guia os tijucanos rumo à disputa da vaga na Série Ouro do carnaval carioca.
Com forte carga simbólica e cultural, a escola mostrará como a fusão entre fé e ancestralidade pode ser difundida na maior manifestação cultural do país , destacando a figura do santo que cavalga entre mundos, atravessa tempos e culturas, protegendo com sua espada os que nele depositam esperança.
“Queremos mostrar como São Jorge e a comunidade da Formiga estão entrelaçados, porque não há batalha impossível para nós. Ele está sempre ao lado de quem luta com coragem e verdade e este é o espírito que temos para o próximo carnaval, o de luta para fazer um grande desfile ”, diz Thiago Carvalho.

The green and white school from Morro da Formiga will revisit its 2007 theme about Saint George. With determination, faith, and the strength of a warrior, GRESE Império da Tijuca announces its plot for Carnival 2026. Under the leadership of President Thiago Carvalho and with the creative talent of carnival designer Jorge Knnawer, the school from Morro da Formiga prepares for an epic journey through the story of one of the most powerful symbols of popular devotion in Brazil, reinterpreting its 2007 theme centered on Saint George.
“Devotion in Green and White: The Return of Saint George to Morro da Formiga” tells the saga of the Warrior Saint who defied oppression, fought battles in the name of justice, and became eternalized as the protector of the humble and a symbol of resistance during the time when Diocletian, Emperor of Rome, ruled over the region of Cappadocia.
Originally developed by carnival designer Sandro Gomes, the plot now takes on a new form, with Saint George as the central figure of a celebration filled with axé, devotion, and spiritual strength — guiding the people of Tijuca in their pursuit of a spot in the Série Ouro of Rio’s Carnival.
With strong symbolic and cultural meaning, the school will showcase how the fusion of faith and ancestry can be expressed in Brazil’s greatest cultural celebration, highlighting the figure of the saint who rides between worlds, transcending time and cultures, protecting with his sword those who place their hope in him.
“We want to show how Saint George and the Formiga community are deeply connected, because no battle is impossible for us. He is always by the side of those who fight with courage and truth — and this is the spirit we carry into the next carnival: a spirit of struggle to put on a great parade,” says Thiago Carvalho.
