Império de Nova Iguaçu terá o terreiro “Kupapa Unsaba” como enredo do carnaval de 2026
Em busca do título da Série Prata em 2026, o Império de Nova Iguaçu levará para a Intendente Magalhães o legado do terreiro de candomblé “Kupapa Unsaba”, localizado no Rio de Janeiro. O local é uma ramificação do Terreiro Bate Folha de Salvador. O enredo “Kupapa Unsaba – Morada Ancestral” será desenvolvido pelos carnavalescos Larissa Pereira e Marco Antonio Falleiros e o enredista John Bahiense.
A azul e branca da baixada contará uma diáspora de além mar! Essa semente africana, que recebeu todo axé na Bahia e criou raízes profunda na baixada carioca. Floresceu e refloresce através das zelosas mãos de Floripes, o coração desta dinastia. Desde 1972, o terreiro está sob liderança de Mam’etu Mabeji (Floripes Correia da Silva Gomes), sobrinha de Lessengue. Ela foi iniciada em 1947, liderou com requinte e continuidade da tradição Congo-Angola e com seu esposo Tata Nguzu José Milagre, manteve viva essa tradição até sua morte em 1999.
O título “Kupapa Unsaba – Morada Ancestral” sugere uma celebração das raízes africanas, evocando ancestralidade, memória e pertencimento. A palavra Kupapa Unsaba (mantida no idioma original) transmite intensidade e espiritualidade, reforçada pelo complemento “Morada Ancestral”, que convida a uma viagem às origens e à cultura de matriz africana.
A escola desfilará como 6ª escola da Série Prata (Superliga), no domingo, 15 de fevereiro de 2026, na Estrada Intendente Magalhães. Os interessados em adquirir a camisa do enredo podem entrar em contato através do (21) 964711035

In pursuit of the Série Prata title in 2026, Império de Nova Iguaçu will bring to Intendente Magalhães the legacy of the Candomblé terreiro “Kupapa Unsaba,” located in Rio de Janeiro. The site is a branch of the renowned Terreiro Bate Folha of Salvador.
The theme, “Kupapa Unsaba – Ancestral Dwelling,” will be developed by carnival designers Larissa Pereira and Marco Antonio Falleiros, along with theme writer John Bahiense. The blue and white school from Baixada will narrate a diaspora from across the seas — an African seed blessed with axé in Bahia that took deep root in Rio’s Baixada region. It blossomed and continues to flourish through the devoted hands of Floripes, the heart of this dynasty.
Since 1972, the terreiro has been under the leadership of Mam’etu Mabeji (Floripes Correia da Silva Gomes), niece of Lessengue. Initiated in 1947, she led with refinement and ensured the continuity of the Congo-Angola tradition. Together with her husband, Tata Nguzu José Milagre, she kept this legacy alive until his passing in 1999.
The title “Kupapa Unsaba – Ancestral Dwelling” evokes a celebration of African roots, summoning ancestry, memory, and belonging. The term “Kupapa Unsaba” (kept in its original language) conveys intensity and spirituality, reinforced by the complement “Ancestral Dwelling,” which invites a journey into origins and Afro-Brazilian culture.
Império de Nova Iguaçu will parade as the 6th school of the Série Prata (Superliga) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Estrada Intendente Magalhães.
