Império Serrano apresenta primeira fantasia do Carnaval 2026 em homenagem à Conceição Evaristo
Escola revela ala de abertura do desfile, inspirada em Oxum e no universo literário da escritora
Na semana da Consciência Negra, o Império Serrano revelou a primeira fantasia do seu desfile para o Carnaval 2026 nesta segunda-feira (17). A escola de Madureira apresentou o figurino da ala 1, intitulado “Brilham os ‘Olhos d’Água’”, que compõe o enredo “Ponciá Evaristo Flor do Mulungu”, desenvolvido pelo carnavalesco Renato Esteves, em homenagem à escritora mineira Conceição Evaristo.
A fantasia de abertura representa a orixá Oxum, deusa das águas doces, trazendo predominantemente tons dourados para simbolizar beleza, força feminina e ancestralidade, elementos centrais na obra da autora.
A narrativa da fantasia nasce do universo literário da autora, inspirado no conto “Olhos d’Água”. O trecho da sinopse do enredo detalha a inspiração criativa da indumentária proposta por Renato Esteves:
“A menina-flor, que brincava com suas irmãs, se encantou com aquela cena. Em seu universo pueril, o graveto seria o lápis e a terra molhada, o papel. Extasiada, fitou o rosto da lavadeira que agora sorria. O sol iluminava a face, revelando qual era a cor dos olhos de sua mãe. Ela tinha os olhos da cor de Oxum, olhos d’água, oju-abebé. Espelho que refletia os olhos da menina-flor”, diz o texto.
Ao longo da semana, a escola divulgará também as alas comerciais e outras fantasias que darão vida ao enredo que exalta Conceição Evaristo. Na Série Ouro 2026, o Reizinho de Madureira será a quarta escola a desfilar no dia 14 de fevereiro, na Sapucaí.

School Reveals Its Opening Wing, Inspired by Oxum and the Literary Universe of the Writer
During Black Awareness Week, Império Serrano presented the first costume of its 2026 Carnival parade this Monday (17). The Madureira-based samba school unveiled the outfit for Wing 1, titled “The ‘Water Eyes’ Shine”, part of the theme “Ponciá Evaristo – Flower of the Mulungu Tree”, developed by carnival designer Renato Esteves in honor of the renowned writer from Minas Gerais, Conceição Evaristo.
The opening costume represents the orixá Oxum, goddess of freshwater, featuring predominantly golden tones that symbolize beauty, feminine strength, and ancestry — central elements in the author’s body of work.
The narrative of the costume emerges from Conceição Evaristo’s literary universe, inspired by the short story “Olhos d’Água.” A passage from the parade synopsis describes the creative inspiration behind Renato Esteves’ design:
“The flower-girl, playing with her sisters, was enchanted by that scene. In her childlike universe, the twig would become a pencil and the wet earth, paper. In awe, she gazed at the face of the washerwoman, now smiling. The sun illuminated that face, revealing the color of her mother’s eyes. She had eyes the color of Oxum, water eyes, oju-abebé. A mirror reflecting the eyes of the flower-girl,” the text reads.
Throughout the week, the school will also reveal the commercial wings and other costumes that will bring to life a storyline celebrating Conceição Evaristo.
In the 2026 Série Ouro, the “Little King of Madureira” will be the fourth school to parade on February 14th, at Sapucaí.
