Instituto Imperatriz Leopoldinense Takes Children from Youth Samba School to Premiere of Musical Inspired by Rosa Magalhães’ Carnival Theme

*Instituto Imperatriz Leopoldinense leva crianças de escola mirim para estreia de espetáculo inspirado em enredo de Rosa Magalhães*

_Em cartaz no Teatro João Caetano, musical “Sonho Encantado de Cordel” celebra as histórias de Hans Christian Andersen, enredo da Imperatriz no Carnaval de 2005_

A noite da última sexta-feira (02.05) foi de teatro para as crianças do Complexo do Alemão e da Zona da Leopoldina, integrantes do projeto de samba no pé da Imperatriz Leopoldinense.

O Instituto que leva o nome da agremiação, por meio de sua nova escola de samba mirim, a “Crias da Imperatriz”, foi ao teatro João Caetano, no Centro do Rio, para assistir ao musical “Sonho Encantado de Cordel”, espetáculo inspirado no enredo “Uma Delirante Confusão Fabulística”, de 2005, da carnavalesca Rosa Magalhães, que conta a história do escritor dinamarquês Hans Christian Andersen.

Convidadas pela produção da peça, as crianças acompanharam da plateia todo a interpretação dos atores caracterizados dos personagens de Andersen, além de participar, ao final do evento, de um show especial da Rainha de Ramos e uma super homenagem à Rosa, eterna carnavalesca da escola e maior vencedora da Era Sambódromo, onde conquistou 5 títulos para a verde, branco e dourado.

João Felipe Drumond, presidente do Instituto Imperatriz, celebrou a ação e destacou a importância da cultura para o futuro das crianças e jovens da região.

“O nosso desejo é que muitas outras ações aconteçam na vida dessas crianças, e no que depender do Instituto Imperatriz será frequente. O acesso à cultura transforma, educa, e forma cidadãos para uma sociedade melhor. Cada sorriso nesta noite valeu muito a pena. A diversão foi garantida”, afirmou João.

A “Crias da Imperatriz” fará sua estreia nos desfiles mirins já no Carnaval 2026, justamente com o enredo celebrado pelo musical, que ficará em cartaz até 25 de maio.

Now showing at João Caetano Theater, the musical “Sonho Encantado de Cordel” celebrates the stories of Hans Christian Andersen, the theme of Imperatriz’s 2005 Carnival presentation
Last Friday evening (May 2nd) was a night at the theater for children from the Complexo do Alemão and the Zona da Leopoldina, participants in the samba project run by Imperatriz Leopoldinense. The Institute named after the samba school, through its newly founded youth samba school “Crias da Imperatriz,” visited the João Caetano Theater in downtown Rio to watch the musical Sonho Encantado de Cordel.
The show is inspired by the 2005 Carnival theme Uma Delirante Confusão Fabulística, created by renowned Carnival artist Rosa Magalhães, and tells the story of Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen.
Invited by the show’s production, the children watched the performance featuring actors dressed as Andersen’s iconic characters. At the end of the event, they enjoyed a special show by the “Rainha de Ramos” and a grand tribute to Rosa Magalhães, the school’s eternal Carnival artist and the most decorated of the Sambadrome era, who won five titles for the green, white, and gold school.
João Felipe Drumond, president of the Instituto Imperatriz, praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of culture in shaping the future of children and youth in the community.
“Our goal is to create more opportunities like this in the lives of these children, and as far as the Instituto Imperatriz is concerned, we’ll make sure it happens often. Access to culture transforms, educates, and shapes citizens for a better society. Every smile tonight made it all worthwhile. It was pure joy,” said João.
“Crias da Imperatriz” will make its debut in the youth parades during Carnival 2026, with the same theme celebrated in the musical, which will remain on stage until May 25th.
