Iniciativa tem o propósito de democratizar o acesso ao jazz no Centro do Rio
O projeto Jazz no Topo, criado pela produtora Luciana Moisakis, estreia no dia 16 de maio, sexta-feira, às 19h, no Amarathi Hub Cultural, em pleno Centro do Rio de Janeiro. A iniciativa visa transformar o espaço em um novo polo de excelência para a música instrumental, aproximando o público da tradição e da contemporaneidade do jazz em apresentações de alta qualidade.
Com curadoria voltada para valorizar músicos brasileiros de trajetória sólida, o projeto propõe um ambiente acessível e descontraído, onde a música se entrelaça naturalmente à arte e à cultura, ampliando a experiência de quem circula pela casa — que também abriga exposições, coworking criativo e eventos culturais diversos.
Na estreia, o palco será do Rio Jazz Trio, grupo formado por Alexandre Magalhães (contrabaixo), Nildo Racine (guitarra) e Valmir Giffoni (bateria) — três músicos reconhecidos pela fluência entre o jazz moderno e os ritmos brasileiros. O trio apresenta um repertório que combina composições autorais e releituras de mestres como Tom Jobim, João Donato, Wayne Shorter e Chick Corea, sempre com espaço aberto para o improviso e para o diálogo vivo entre os instrumentos.

An initiative aiming to democratize access to jazz in Downtown Rio
The Jazz no Topo project, created by producer Luciana Moisakis, will debut on Friday, May 16, at 7 PM, at Amarathi Hub Cultural, located in the heart of Downtown Rio de Janeiro. The initiative aims to turn the space into a new hub of excellence for instrumental music, bringing audiences closer to both the tradition and modern expressions of jazz through high-quality performances.
With a curatorial focus on highlighting established Brazilian musicians, the project proposes a relaxed and inclusive environment where music naturally intertwines with art and culture—enhancing the experience of visitors to the venue, which also hosts exhibitions, creative coworking, and a variety of cultural events.
For the opening night, the stage will belong to the Rio Jazz Trio, formed by Alexandre Magalhães (bass), Nildo Racine (guitar), and Valmir Giffoni (drums)—three musicians known for their fluid mix of modern jazz and Brazilian rhythms. Their setlist includes original compositions and reinterpretations of classics by Tom Jobim, João Donato, Wayne Shorter, and Chick Corea, with plenty of space for improvisation and vibrant instrumental dialogue.
“The project aims to democratize access to jazz, offering the downtown Rio audience a high-quality cultural option after work hours—combining excellent music, contemporary art, and a welcoming atmosphere in one of the city’s most charming venues,” highlights Luciana Moisakis.
