 “Ninguém Me Ensinou a Morrer” estreia no Teatro Firjan Sesi Jacarepaguá 

Espetáculo premiado traz a vivência de jovens pretos periféricos 
sob a direção artística da atriz Vilma Melo

Com o objetivo de provocar uma profunda reflexão sobre as violações dos direitos humanos e das injustiças enfrentadas por crianças e adolescentes nas periferias urbanas, a peça “Ninguém me Ensinou a Morrer” chega o Teatro Firjan Sesi Jacarepaguá em curta temporada, com exibições no último final de semana de julho e o primeiro final de semana de agosto. 

Com seis jovens atores em cena, o espetáculo sensibiliza o público com a realidade brutal e muitas vezes invisibilizada das comunidades marginalizadas e propõe um diálogo com empatia e solidariedade. Oriundo do Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian, na Praça Onze, o grupo teatral traz a fusão de talentos e ideias em produções teatrais inovadoras e impactantes, enriquecendo ainda mais o cenário cultural da cidade. 

A direção artística é assinada pela atriz Vilma Melo, professora de teatro e que atualmente vive a personagem Jussara na novela “Dona de Mim”: “O maior objetivo desta peça é inspirar ações concretas em prol da justiça social, da equidade e do respeito à dignidade humana, visando construir um futuro onde todas as crianças e adolescentes tenham a oportunidade de crescer em um ambiente livre de violência, discriminação e exclusão”, destaca.

A encenação de ‘Ninguém Me Ensinou a Morrer’ se desdobra como um caleidoscópio de movimentos e emoções, que se montam e desmontam diante dos olhos do público, revelando as camadas profundas de dor, resistência e esperança que habitam os corpos marcados pela marginalização e pela violência estrutural. 

O espetáculo que desafia convenções e rompe barreiras, já foi indicado a mais de 17 premiações, nas categorias Melhor Esquete, Melhor Texto Original, Melhor Direção , Melhor Direção de Movimento, Melhor Trilha Sonora Original, Melhor Iluminação e Melhor Atrizes em Conjunto. E conquistou 12 prêmios, como o Festival FESTU, considerado o maior festival de teatro universitário do Brasil; o Festival Negritudes e o Festival Internacional de Teatro de Niterói, o Niterói em Cena.

Dividido em três níveis que atravessa a vida, a morte e a eternidade nas favelas do Brasil, a trama se desenvolve em uma megaoperação policial que ameaça os sonhos, afetos e resistências dos jovens. Sem saber se irão sobreviver a mais uma noite, diante da violência impiedosa que castiga corpos pretos e favelados, uma pergunta ecoa como ferida aberta: alguém aí já te ensinou a morrer?

“No One Taught Me How to Die” Premieres at Teatro Firjan Sesi Jacarepaguá
Award-winning play brings to the stage the experiences of young Black people from the urban periphery, under the artistic direction of actress Vilma Melo
Aiming to provoke deep reflection on human rights violations and the injustices faced by children and teenagers in urban peripheries, the play “No One Taught Me How to Die” opens for a short season at Teatro Firjan Sesi Jacarepaguá, with performances on the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August.
With six young actors on stage, the production moves the audience by exposing the brutal and often invisible reality of marginalized communities. It fosters dialogue rooted in empathy and solidarity. Originating from the Calouste Gulbenkian Arts Center in Praça Onze, the theater group merges talent and ideas in innovative and impactful productions, further enriching the cultural scene of the city.
The artistic direction is by actress and theater teacher Vilma Melo, currently playing Jussara in the TV drama “Dona de Mim.” “The main goal of this play is to inspire concrete actions in favor of social justice, equity, and respect for human dignity, aiming to build a future where all children and teenagers have the opportunity to grow in an environment free from violence, discrimination, and exclusion,” she highlights.
“No One Taught Me How to Die” unfolds like a kaleidoscope of movement and emotion, assembling and disassembling before the audience’s eyes, revealing deep layers of pain, resistance, and hope that dwell in bodies marked by marginalization and structural violence.
A bold and boundary-breaking production, the play has been nominated for over 17 awards in categories such as Best Sketch, Best Original Script, Best Direction, Best Movement Direction, Best Original Score, Best Lighting, and Best Ensemble of Actresses. It has won 12 awards, including honors from FESTU — the largest university theater festival in Brazil — as well as the Negritudes Festival and the Niterói International Theater Festival, Niterói em Cena.
Divided into three narrative levels that explore life, death, and eternity in Brazil’s favelas, the plot unfolds during a large-scale police operation that threatens the dreams, affections, and resistance of the youth. Unsure whether they will survive another night under relentless violence against Black and favela bodies, one haunting question echoes like an open wound: Has anyone ever taught you how to die?
