Operação Rastreio: Governo do Estado devolve 1,4 mil celulares recuperados aos seus proprietários

Esta é a maior iniciativa da Polícia Civil para combater toda a cadeia criminosa que envolve a subtração e a receptação de aparelhos móveis

O Governo do Rio de Janeiro devolveu, nesta terça-feira (22/07), 1,4 mil celulares recuperados pela Secretaria de Polícia Civil aos seus proprietários. A restituição é mais uma etapa da Operação Rastreio, a maior iniciativa do Estado para combater toda a cadeia criminosa que envolve a subtração e a receptação de aparelhos móveis. Cerca de 700 celulares foram entregues na Cidade da Polícia, 400 na Baixada Fluminense e 300 na Região Metropolitana e no interior.

Os demais celulares apreendidos desde o início da Operação Rastreio estão sendo periciados e as investigações seguem para identificar e localizar os verdadeiros donos. No fim de junho, a Polícia Civil fez uma grande ação de devolução de aparelhos produtos de crime que estavam em posse de terceiros. Na ocasião, cerca de 3 mil novos usuários dos dispositivos foram comunicados que deveriam devolvê-los em um prazo de até 72 horas. Aproximadamente 1 mil pessoas procuraram as delegacias para fazer a entrega voluntária. Quem não colaborou será indiciado pelo crime de receptação.

  • Essa fase é só o início. Desde maio, já são mais de 270 presos e cerca de 5 mil aparelhos recuperados. O celular é um bem muito importante na vida das pessoas, seja para trabalho ou na vida pessoal, com dados e fotos que são muitas vezes memórias insubstituíveis. Estamos aqui devolvendo hoje esses telefones, mas a Operação Rastreio é permanente – afirmou o secretário de Polícia Civil, delegado Felipe Curi.

Além de focar na repressão aos crimes, a Operação Rastreio trabalha para mudar a cultura a respeito da compra de celulares. No dia 1º de julho, a Polícia Civil lançou o aplicativo Celular Seguro RJ, que permite o cadastro de IMEIs e a consulta de possíveis restrições aos telefones. Essa é uma ferramenta para que as pessoas possam checar a procedência do celular antes mesmo da compra, e é abastecida em tempo real, com dados de registros de ocorrências.

This is the largest initiative by the Civil Police to combat the entire criminal chain involving the theft and fencing of mobile devices.

The Government of Rio de Janeiro returned, this Tuesday (07/22), 1,400 mobile phones recovered by the Civil Police Department to their rightful owners. The restitution is another stage of Operation Tracking, the State’s largest initiative to tackle the entire criminal network involved in the theft and resale of mobile devices. Around 700 phones were returned at the City of Police, 400 in Baixada Fluminense, and 300 in the Metropolitan Region and countryside.

“Operation Tracking represents a strong commitment from our government to the safety of the population and a direct confrontation with organized crime. The return of these phones is more than just recovering a material item. It’s the restoration of dignity and peace of mind to thousands of people. We will continue to expand this initiative using technology, intelligence, and integration to tackle the root of the problem and build a safer state for everyone,” emphasized Governor Cláudio Castro.

The remaining phones seized since the beginning of the operation are being examined, and investigations continue to identify and locate the true owners. At the end of June, the Civil Police carried out a large-scale operation to return phones that had been stolen and were in possession of third parties. On that occasion, around 3,000 new users of these devices were notified that they had to return them within 72 hours. Approximately 1,000 people voluntarily went to police stations to hand them in. Those who failed to comply will be charged with the crime of fencing.

“This phase is just the beginning. Since May, more than 270 individuals have been arrested and about 5,000 devices recovered. The mobile phone is a very important asset in people’s lives, whether for work or personal use, containing data and photos that are often irreplaceable memories. We are returning these phones today, but Operation Tracking is ongoing,” stated Civil Police Secretary, Chief Felipe Curi.

In addition to focusing on crime suppression, Operation Tracking also aims to shift the culture around buying mobile phones. On July 1, the Civil Police launched the Celular Seguro RJ app, which allows users to register IMEIs and check for possible restrictions on phones. This tool enables people to verify the legitimacy of a device before purchase and is updated in real time with data from police reports.
