Rio de Janeiro, junho de 2025: O coletivo cultural FAZ NA PRAÇA, em parceria com a Tijuca Filmes e com divulgação da página Cidade Pirata, lança o Circuito FAZ NA PRAÇA, um projeto que une cinema ao ar livre, música e bate-papos em edições gratuitas na tradicional Praça Saenz Peña, na Tijuca, a partir do dia 08 de junho.
A proposta retoma uma atividade já realizada anteriormente pelo coletivo: exibições de filmes em espaço público, sempre acompanhadas por atrações culturais. Desta vez, porém, o foco está inteiramente na Praça Saenz Peña, que já abrigou mais de 14 cinemas de rua, mas que hoje não possui mais nenhuma sala ativa. A iniciativa surge como uma forma de reverter este cenário.
A proposta do Circuito Faz na Praça é oferecer exibições de filmes recentes, obras que acabaram de sair de cartaz ou que ainda irão estrear, mas que, devido à limitação do circuito exibidor, não chegaram ao bairro. A ideia é fomentar o debate sobre a importância dos cinemas de rua na região e incentivar a valorização do espaço público como lugar de convivência, cultura e memória.
A primeira edição acontece no dia 08 de junho, com a exibição do documentário “Noel Rosa – Um Espírito Circulante”, da Vitrine Filmes, cuja temática dialoga diretamente com a história cultural do bairro. A sessão contará ainda com a apresentação da roda de samba Samba de Ponta e o som do DJ Rajão, ampliando a proposta de ocupar a praça com cultura, arte e afeto.
O projeto pretende contribuir para a reflexão sobre o impacto da ausência de cinemas na vida urbana e reforçar a importância de políticas públicas voltadas para a reativação de equipamentos culturais na Tijuca.

“Faz na Praça” Circuit Brings Films and Music to the Square Starting in June

Rio de Janeiro, June 2025 – The cultural collective FAZ NA PRAÇA, in partnership with Tijuca Filmes and promoted by the Cidade Pirata page, is launching the FAZ NA PRAÇA Circuit—a project that blends open-air cinema, music, and conversations in free editions at the traditional Saenz Peña Square, in Tijuca, starting on June 8th.
The initiative revives an activity previously carried out by the collective: public space film screenings always accompanied by cultural attractions. This time, however, the focus is entirely on Saenz Peña Square, which once hosted more than 14 neighborhood cinemas, but currently has no active movie theaters. The project aims to reverse this scenario.
The purpose of the Faz na Praça Circuit is to offer screenings of recent films—works that have just left theaters or are yet to premiere but, due to the limitations of the current exhibition circuit, have not reached the neighborhood. The idea is to foster dialogue on the importance of neighborhood cinemas and to encourage appreciation of public spaces as places for community, culture, and memory.
The first edition will take place on June 8th, with a screening of the documentary “Noel Rosa – Um Espírito Circulante”, distributed by Vitrine Filmes. The film’s theme directly resonates with the cultural history of the neighborhood. The event will also feature a performance by the samba group Samba de Ponta and music by DJ Rajão, reinforcing the initiative’s goal of filling the square with culture, art, and human connection.
The project seeks to spark reflection on the impact of the disappearance of movie theaters from urban life and to highlight the need for public policies that support the revival of cultural spaces in Tijuca.
