Textor, Thairo e jogadores alvinegros são homenageados durante Botafogo x Fortaleza
O Estádio Nilton Santos recebeu, neste domingo, um momento especial antes da bola rolar para Botafogo x Fortaleza. O vereador Marcio Ribeiro realizou a entrega da Medalha de Mérito Pedro Ernesto, a maior honraria do Município do Rio de Janeiro, ao empresário John Textor e ao diretor Thairo Arruda, em reconhecimento ao trabalho realizado à frente do Botafogo e à contribuição direta para o desenvolvimento do esporte carioca.
A cerimônia reuniu torcedores e autoridades no gramado do Nilton Santos e marcou o reconhecimento público ao projeto esportivo que transformou o clube nos últimos anos.
Além de Textor e Thairo, os jogadores Bastos, Barboza e Marlon Freitas receberam Títulos Honoríficos em razão do desempenho e da identificação com o clube. O atacante Savarino também foi homenageado, com entrega realizada pelo vereador Rafael Aloísio Freitas.
O ato contou com a presença dos vereadores Felipe Pires e Rosa Fernandes, além do secretário municipal de Esportes, Guilherme Schleder, reforçando o reconhecimento institucional ao Botafogo e ao papel social do futebol no Rio.
“Foi uma noite de celebração e carinho ao Botafogo. É justo reconhecer quem ajudou a reconstruir o clube e movimenta o esporte na cidade. Essas homenagens representam o respeito do poder público a quem transforma o futebol em inclusão, oportunidade e orgulho para o torcedor carioca”, destacou o vereador Marcio Ribeiro.
A iniciativa evidencia a conexão entre esporte e desenvolvimento urbano, fortalecendo a identidade cultural do carioca e a importância dos investimentos no setor para movimentar economia, gerar empregos e incentivar novos talentos.

Textor, Thairo and Botafogo Players Honored During Botafogo vs. Fortaleza
The Nilton Santos Stadium hosted a special moment this Sunday before kickoff of Botafogo vs. Fortaleza. City councilman Marcio Ribeiro presented the Pedro Ernesto Medal of Merit — the highest honor granted by the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro — to businessman John Textor and director Thairo Arruda, in recognition of their work leading Botafogo and their direct contribution to the development of sports in Rio.
The ceremony brought together fans and public authorities on the Nilton Santos pitch and marked public recognition of the sports project that has transformed the club in recent years.
In addition to Textor and Thairo, players Bastos, Barboza, and Marlon Freitas received Honorary Titles for their performance and strong identification with the club. Forward Savarino was also honored, with the presentation carried out by councilman Rafael Aloísio Freitas.
The event was attended by councilmembers Felipe Pires and Rosa Fernandes, as well as the municipal secretary of Sports, Guilherme Schleder, reinforcing institutional acknowledgment of Botafogo and the social role of football in Rio.
“It was a night of celebration and affection for Botafogo. It is only fair to recognize those who helped rebuild the club and drive sports in the city. These tributes represent the respect of public authorities for those who turn football into inclusion, opportunity, and pride for Rio’s supporters,” highlighted councilman Marcio Ribeiro.
The initiative underscores the connection between sports and urban development, strengthening the cultural identity of the people of Rio and highlighting the importance of investment in the sector to boost the economy, create jobs, and encourage new talent.
