UNIDOS DO CABUÇU ANNOUNCES THEME FOR CARNIVAL 2026: A TRIBUTE TO INDIGENOUS CULTURE
Unidos do Cabuçu has already defined its theme for Carnival 2026: “The Saga of the Tupinambás to the Guaranis – In the Gaze of Time, Listen to the Scent of Rain in the Maricá Cabuçu Village.” The concept offers a poetic and historical immersion into Brazil’s indigenous roots, especially those of the peoples who once inhabited the region of Maricá, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
The theme is signed by Carnival director Anderson Papai, who emphasizes the community’s desire to focus on native cultures. “The word ‘Cabuçu’, of indigenous origin, has always evoked curiosity and respect. From it, we embarked on a journey of research, symbolism, and spirituality. ‘Listen to the scent of rain’ is an ancestral metaphor — an evocation of indigenous sensitivity that transcends time,” says the director.
The narrative seeks to connect past and present, highlighting rituals, wisdom, and the spiritual strength of native peoples — such as the Tamoios, Tupinambás, Tupis, and Guaranis — without resorting to stereotypes or cultural appropriation. The city of Maricá, whose name refers to a fragrant thorn, and the term “Cabuçu”, meaning wasp, also inspire the poetic construction of the theme, which interweaves nature, time, and cultural resistance.
The parade will be developed by carnival artist Vander Cobalto who, together with the Carnival commission, promises an impactful presentation. “Our parade will revisit the past with respect and beauty, honoring the symbolic and spiritual elements of the Tupinambá and Guarani cultures. The indigenous essence will be present from beginning to end in the visual and musical narrative we will bring to the avenue,” the artist states.
The entire project is overseen by president Flavio Vianna and vice-president Tadeuzinho, who ensure cohesion, historical respect, and alignment with the school’s values throughout each stage of the parade’s creation.
Unidos do Cabuçu will parade on the Saturday after Carnival — the traditional Champions’ Saturday — in the Bronze Series of the Brazilian Carnival Super League, at Intendente Magalhães. The school dreams big: to win the title and secure the much-desired promotion to the Silver Series.
With this theme, the school reaffirms its commitment to valuing Brazilian history and identity, turning Carnival into a platform of memory, resistance, and celebration.

A Unidos do Cabuçu já definiu seu enredo para o Carnaval de 2026: “A Saga dos Tupinambás a Guaranis – No Olhar do Tempo, Escute o Cheiro da Chuva na Aldeia Maricá Cabuçu”. A proposta é uma imersão poética e histórica nas raízes indígenas do Brasil, especialmente dos povos que habitaram a região de Maricá, no Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
O enredo é assinado pelo diretor de Carnaval Anderson Papai, que destaca a escolha como um reflexo do desejo da comunidade por uma temática voltada às culturas originárias. “A palavra ‘Cabuçu’, de origem indígena, sempre despertou curiosidade e respeito. A partir dela, buscamos um caminho de pesquisa, simbolismo e espiritualidade. ‘Escute o cheiro da chuva’ é uma metáfora ancestral, uma evocação da sensibilidade indígena que ultrapassa o tempo”, afirma o diretor.
A narrativa propõe uma conexão entre passado e presente, exaltando rituais, sabedorias e a força espiritual dos povos originários — como os Tamoios, Tupinambás, Tupis e Guaranis — sem recorrer a estereótipos ou apropriações indevidas. A cidade de Maricá, cujo nome remete a um espinho perfumado, e o termo “Cabuçu”, que significa vespa, também inspiram a construção poética do enredo, que entrelaça natureza, tempo e resistência cultural.
O desfile será desenvolvido pelo carnavalesco Vander Cobalto, que, ao lado de uma comissão de Carnaval, promete uma apresentação impactante. “Nosso desfile revisitará o passado com respeito e beleza, valorizando os elementos simbólicos e espirituais das culturas Tupinambá e Guarani. A essência indígena estará presente do início ao fim da narrativa visual e sonora que levaremos à avenida”, afirma o artista.
Todo o projeto tem a revisão e acompanhamento do presidente Flavio Vianna e do vice-presidente Tadeuzinho, que garantem a coesão, o respeito histórico e o alinhamento com os valores da escola em cada etapa da construção do desfile.
A Unidos do Cabuçu desfilará no sábado pós-Carnaval, o tradicional Sábado das Campeãs, pela Série Bronze da Superliga Carnavalesca do Brasil, na Intendente Magalhães. A agremiação sonha alto: conquistar o título e garantir o tão desejado acesso à Série Prata.
Com esse enredo, a escola reafirma seu compromisso com a valorização da história e da identidade brasileira, fazendo do Carnaval uma plataforma de memória, resistência e celebração.
