Flamengo and Rio City Hall Sign Agreement on the Gasômetro Project
The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and the City of Rio de Janeiro announce that the club will retain the Gasômetro land, a decision formalized this morning (August 29) at the Palácio da Cidade in Botafogo, through a commitment agreement with the municipality’s approval.
Flamengo will therefore continue with the feasibility and development studies for the stadium construction project—an essential step to ensure its future implementation. These studies, initiated at least eight months ago by Flamengo’s current administration, include technical and economic evaluations carried out by specialized companies and consulting firms such as FGV, Arena Venues + Events, Soloeste Engenharia Ltda., and AECOM.
Given the need for further in-depth analysis, both parties also agreed to extend the deadlines necessary for the project’s execution, as well as to adjust obligations, ensuring legal security and the full continuity of the initiative.
Flamengo and Rio City Hall remain aligned and committed to making the proposal viable, for the benefit of the city, the club’s members, and its thousands of supporters.
