A Unidos de Vila Isabel volta às origens do samba neste sábado (6), para um encontro especial na histórica Pedra do Sal, coração da Pequena África, no Rio de Janeiro. O evento gratuito marca a apresentação dos três sambas finalistas da disputa que escolherá o hino oficial do Carnaval 2026 da azul e branca.
A disputa teve início em 15 de agosto e, após semanas de intensa competição, entra agora em sua reta final. A semifinal acontece na sexta-feira (5), na quadra da escola. Já no sábado, os finalistas levarão suas obras ao palco simbólico da cultura afro-carioca, a partir das 15h, em uma grande celebração que contará com um show especial da escola seguido pela apresentação dos sambas concorrentes. A grande final está marcada para o dia 12, também na quadra da Unidos de Vila Isabel.
Este ano, a escola homenageia Heitor dos Prazeres com o enredo “Macumbembê, Samborembá: Sonhei que um sambista sonhou a África”. Pintor, compositor e sambista, Heitor teve uma relação íntima com a região da Pedra do Sal, espaço que foi berço do samba carioca e ponto de encontro de grandes nomes da música, da cultura e da religiosidade afro-brasileira. Levar a disputa para este local reforça o compromisso da Vila Isabel em celebrar a ancestralidade e as raízes do samba.
“Levar nossa disputa para a Pedra do Sal é um gesto de respeito e reconhecimento às raízes do samba e à história da Pequena África. É um momento de celebrar a ancestralidade e aproximar a comunidade dessa etapa tão importante para o nosso desfile”, destaca Moisés Carvalho, diretor de Carnaval da Unidos de Vila Isabel.
O festejo na Pedra do Sal promete unir tradição e festa popular, abrindo caminho para a grande final que definirá o samba-enredo oficial da agremiação para o próximo Carnaval.

Vila Isabel takes its samba contest to Pedra do Sal and celebrates samba roots ahead of the grand final
Unidos de Vila Isabel returns to the origins of samba this Saturday (6) for a special gathering at the historic Pedra do Sal, in the heart of Little Africa, Rio de Janeiro. The free event will feature the presentation of the three finalist sambas in the contest that will choose the school’s official anthem for Carnival 2026.
The competition began on August 15 and, after weeks of intense rivalry, now reaches its final stretch. The semifinal takes place on Friday (5), at the school’s rehearsal hall. On Saturday, the finalists will showcase their works on the symbolic stage of Afro-Carioca culture, starting at 3 p.m., in a grand celebration that will include a special show by the school followed by the presentation of the competing sambas.
The grand final is set for September 12, also at the Unidos de Vila Isabel rehearsal hall. This year, the school pays tribute to Heitor dos Prazeres with the theme “Macumbembê, Samborembá: I dreamed that a sambista dreamed of Africa.” A painter, composer, and sambista, Heitor had a deep connection with the Pedra do Sal area, a birthplace of Carioca samba and a meeting point for great figures of Afro-Brazilian music, culture, and religiosity.
Bringing the contest to this location reinforces Vila Isabel’s commitment to celebrating samba’s ancestry and roots. “Holding our contest at Pedra do Sal is an act of respect and recognition of the roots of samba and the history of Little Africa. It is a moment to honor ancestry and bring the community closer to this important stage of our parade,” highlights Moisés Carvalho, Unidos de Vila Isabel’s Carnival director.
The celebration at Pedra do Sal promises to unite tradition and popular festivity, paving the way for the grand final that will define the school’s official samba-enredo for the next Carnival.
