A manhã da última quinta-feira (11) foi especial para as crianças e adultos do “Ballet da Rainha”. As turmas, que fazem parte do Instituto Imperatriz Leopoldinense e atendem alunos do Complexo do Alemão e outras comunidades da região, receberam uma visita ilustre: Ana Botafogo, grande nome do ballet brasileiro.
Primeira Bailarina do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, jurada do quadro “Dança dos Famosos”, do “Domingão com Huck”, e diretora artística do primeiro casal de Mestre-Sala e Porta-Bandeira da verde, branco e dourado, Ana esteve na quadra da escola, em Ramos, Zona da Leopoldina do Rio, para passar seus conhecimentos para as turmas infantis e 30+ da atividade. O que a mesma não esperava é que, após as aulas, seria convidada para ser madrinha da modalidade no Instituto. O convite partiu do presidente da instituição, João Drumond, e Ana prontamente aceitou.
“Para todos nós, é uma honra ter Ana Botafogo, referência para a cultura brasileira, em nossa equipe. E não há pessoa mais indicada para ser a madrinha do ballet do nosso Instituto. Ana contribui com sua arte, mas também sendo um exemplo de cidadania para todas as crianças e adultos. Fico muito orgulhoso por ela aceitar o convite e tenho certeza que agora como madrinha vai transformar muitas das vidas que acolhemos”, afirmou João.
Ana Botafogo definiu o momento como uma “alegria enorme”, e celebrou o trabalho do Instituto.
“Receber o convite para ser madrinha deste projeto do Instituto Imperatriz é um motivo de muita alegria e carinho. Agradeço ao presidente João e a Catia Drumond. Na dança não só transformamos vidas, mas damos o bem-estar, saúde e, sobretudo, esse congraçamento entre os alunos, que é tão importante. Será ótimo estar perto das crianças e adultos que querem ter a dança em suas vidas como ferramenta de transformação e sociabilização. É a Imperatriz sempre preocupada com a educação, a arte e a cultura. Obrigada”.
O Instituto Imperatriz Leopoldinense é uma entidade sem fins lucrativos, que tem como finalidade única promover cidadania, empatia, oportunidade e amor ao próximo.

Renowned Brazilian ballerina is also artistic director of the Queen of Ramos’ first couple; “a tremendous joy,” celebrated the dancer
The morning of last Thursday (11) was special for the children and adults of the “Ballet da Rainha.” The groups, which are part of the Instituto Imperatriz Leopoldinense and serve students from the Complexo do Alemão and other nearby communities, received an illustrious guest: Ana Botafogo, one of the greatest names in Brazilian ballet.
First Ballerina of the Theatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro, judge of the “Dança dos Famosos” segment on “Domingão com Huck,” and artistic director of the Queen of Ramos’ first Mestre-Sala and Porta-Bandeira couple, Ana visited the school’s rehearsal hall in Ramos, in Rio’s Zona da Leopoldina, to share her knowledge with the children’s and 30+ groups.
What she did not expect was that, after the classes, she would be invited to become godmother of the ballet program at the Institute. The invitation came from the institution’s president, João Drumond, and Ana readily accepted.
“For all of us, it is an honor to have Ana Botafogo, a true reference in Brazilian culture, on our team. And there is no one more suited to be the godmother of our Institute’s ballet. Ana contributes with her art, but also by being an example of citizenship for all the children and adults. I am very proud that she accepted the invitation, and I am certain that now, as godmother, she will transform many of the lives we welcome,” said João.
Ana Botafogo described the moment as “a tremendous joy” and praised the Institute’s work:
“Receiving the invitation to be godmother of this project at Instituto Imperatriz is a reason for great joy and affection. I thank president João and Catia Drumond. Through dance, we not only transform lives, but also provide well-being, health, and above all, this sense of togetherness among the students, which is so important. It will be wonderful to be close to the children and adults who want to have dance in their lives as a tool for transformation and socialization. Imperatriz is always committed to education, art, and culture. Thank you.”
The Instituto Imperatriz Leopoldinense is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to promote citizenship, empathy, opportunity, and love for others.
