A Unidos da Tijuca escolheu na madrugada deste domingo o seu hino oficial para o Carnaval 2026. Venceu a parceria de Lico Monteiro, Samir Trindade, Leandro Thomaz, Marcelo Adnet, Marcelo Lepiane, Telmo Augusto, Gigi da Estiva e Juca. O samba escolhido servirá de trilha sonora para o enredo “Carolina Maria de Jesus “, uma homenagem à escritora, memorialista, compositora e multi-artista mineira, autora do best-seller “Quarto de Despejo – O Diário de uma favelada”, considerado uma das mais revolucionárias e impactantes obras da literatura brasileira. A Tijuca fechará a segunda-feira de desfiles no Carnaval 2026.

Durante a noite, a Unidos da Tijuca escreveu uma nova página de sua história quase centenária. Uma madrugada histórica, que reuniu talento, coragem e poesia como há muito não se via. Em uma futura mudança de sua quadra, a noite marcou a última escolha de samba realizada na quadra do Clube dos Portuários, sua casa por mais de 30 anos. Agora, Carolina Maria de Jesus não é apenas um enredo: é o coração pulsante da Tijuca. A obra escolhida nasce de um chão de saudades, de saberes que se transformam em canto libertador. Ela é feita da mesma madeira dos barracos do Borel e das páginas que resistem ao despejo; carrega as marcas de quem foi obrigada a sobreviver. A canção traduz, em ritmo e poesia, um país que ainda sonha com sua liberdade.

O samba vencedor não se limita a narrar a vida de uma escritora. Ele encarna a menina que virou verbo, o olhar da fome transformado em denúncia, a fé que se faz arma. Traz no seu tecido a realeza escondida nas vielas, o barraco que vira literatura, as Marias que viram seus filhos crucificados e ainda assim levantam a cabeça. Lico Monteiro, Samir Trindade, Leandro Thomaz, Marcelo Adnet, Marcelo Lepiane, Telmo Augusto, Gigi da Estiva, and Juca are the composers signing the 2026 Carnival work of the Borel-based school for the very first time
Unidos da Tijuca chose its official anthem for Carnival 2026 in the early hours of this Sunday. The winning entry came from the partnership of Lico Monteiro, Samir Trindade, Leandro Thomaz, Marcelo Adnet, Marcelo Lepiane, Telmo Augusto, Gigi da Estiva, and Juca. The chosen samba will serve as the soundtrack for the theme “Carolina Maria de Jesus”, a tribute to the writer, memoirist, composer, and multi-artist from Minas Gerais, author of the best-seller Child of the Dark – The Diary of a Slum Dweller, regarded as one of the most revolutionary and impactful works in Brazilian literature. Tijuca will close Monday’s parades in Carnival 2026.
During the night, Unidos da Tijuca wrote a new chapter in its nearly 100-year history. It was a historic dawn, bringing together talent, courage, and poetry like had not been seen in years. On the eve of changing its rehearsal venue, the night marked the last samba selection held at the Clube dos Portuários, its home for more than 30 years. Now, Carolina Maria de Jesus is not just a theme: she is Tijuca’s beating heart.
The chosen work is born from a ground of memories, from knowledge transformed into liberating song. It is made of the same wood as the shacks of Borel, of the same pages that resist eviction; it bears the scars of those who were forced to survive. The song translates, in rhythm and poetry, a country that still dreams of its freedom.
The winning samba does not simply narrate the life of a writer. It embodies the girl who became a verb, the hunger gaze transformed into protest, the faith that becomes a weapon. It carries within its weave the hidden royalty of the alleys, the shack that turns into literature, the Marias who saw their children crucified and still lifted their heads high. Every line is a silent call for Tijuca to recognize its place, to fight, and to change its own story.
With this work, Tijuca reaffirms its DNA of beginning again, of reinventing itself, of always seeking new paths. When the winner is announced, there are no more sides, no divisions: the school becomes one single body singing Carolina. From the mestre-sala to the velha guarda, from the drummers to the supporters, the entire Tijuca prepares to embody the people’s writer.
