Betting on Style and Boldness, Daniel Zarmanno to Design Costumes for Finalists of the LGBT+ Royal Court of Carnival 2026

Renowned fashion designer Daniel Zarmanno will be responsible for the costumes of two finalists in the LGBT+ Royal Court competition for Rio de Janeiro’s 2026 Carnival. Contestants Luis Otávio, a finalist in the LGBT+ Prince category, and Wendell, who is competing for the Non-Binary Person title, qualified on Thursday night (16) wearing exclusive creations designed by Zarmanno.

The outfits, developed especially for the qualifying stage, blend the essence of samba and the energy of Carnival with the sophistication of contemporary fashion, expressing a concept of identity, freedom, and elegance. Each piece was crafted to highlight the personality of the contestants and enhance the representation present in the competition.

“More than costumes, I wanted to create symbols of expression and pride. The LGBT+ Court is a space of visibility and celebration, and fashion plays a fundamental role in this protagonism,” says Daniel Zarmanno.

In the 2025 Royal Court competition, Zarmanno designed the costumes of three finalists, including the winner, Thuane Werneck.

The grand final of the competition will take place on October 23 at Cidade do Samba.
