Exaltando Conceição Evaristo, Império Serrano revela fantasia inspirada nos ‘Cadernos Negros’
Figurino comercial integra o enredo de 2026 e transforma em estética carnavalesca a força literária e a memória insurgente da autora
O Império Serrano apresentou nesta quarta-feira (19) a fantasia da Ala 12, intitulada “Cadernos Negros”, que integra o enredo “Ponciá Evaristo Flor do Mulungu”, desenvolvido pelo carnavalesco Renato Esteves para a Série Ouro 2026. A criação se inspira no momento em que a protagonista da história, após sobreviver ao dilúvio que atravessa a narrativa, transforma a escrita em um ato de insubordinação, memória e reinvenção.
Segundo a sinopse, “após o dilúvio, escrever adquiriu um sentido de insubordinação. Ponciá-Evaristo-Flor-do-Mulungu tornou-se professora. Entre poemas e romances, registrou as memórias da tragédia do aguaceiro e as guardou em Cadernos Negros”. É esse gesto de resistência por meio da palavra que inspira a estética e a simbologia da fantasia apresentada.
A referência direta aos Cadernos Negros resgata também a trajetória do coletivo Quilombhoje, responsável por uma das mais importantes séries literárias dedicadas à escrita negra no Brasil. Entre os textos publicados, destaca-se o poema “Vozes-Mulheres”, de Conceição Evaristo, originalmente presente no volume 13 da coletânea, em 1990, e posteriormente republicado em “Poemas da recordação” e outros movimentos. No poema, a autora costura gerações de mulheres negras cujas vivências, dores e afetos ecoam através da literatura.
A fantasia da Ala 12 materializa essa herança de palavras insurgentes, transformando as páginas dos Cadernos Negros em movimento, cor e narrativa na Sapucaí. A escrita, que na obra de Evaristo é memória coletiva e denúncia, ganha forma no desfile como afirmação de vida e continuidade.
Em sua reflexão sobre o processo criativo, o carnavalesco Renato Esteves destaca a potência simbólica dessa referência.
“Os ‘Cadernos Negros’ são mais que um marco literário. São um arquivo de sobrevivências. Ao levar essa imagem para a Avenida, buscamos mostrar que a palavra escrita por mãos negras não só resiste, mas funda novas possibilidades de existir. Cada fantasia desta ala é uma página viva desse legado”, afirma.

The commercial costume is part of the 2026 theme and transforms the author’s literary power and insurgent memory into a carnival aesthetic.
Império Serrano presented on Wednesday (19) the costume for Wing 12, titled “Cadernos Negros”, which is part of the theme “Ponciá Evaristo Flor do Mulungu”, developed by carnival designer Renato Esteves for the 2026 Série Ouro parade. The creation is inspired by the moment in the story when the protagonist, after surviving the deluge that runs through the narrative, turns writing into an act of insubordination, memory, and reinvention.
According to the synopsis, “After the deluge, writing acquired a sense of insubordination. Ponciá-Evaristo-Flor-do-Mulungu became a teacher. Between poems and novels, she recorded the memories of the tragic downpour and kept them in Cadernos Negros.” It is this act of resistance through the written word that inspires the aesthetics and symbolism of the presented costume.
The direct reference to Cadernos Negros also recalls the trajectory of the collective Quilombhoje, responsible for one of the most important literary series dedicated to Black writing in Brazil. Among the texts published in the series, one highlight is the poem “Vozes-Mulheres” by Conceição Evaristo, originally featured in volume 13 of the anthology in 1990 and later republished in Poemas da Recordação e Outros Movimentos. In the poem, the author interweaves generations of Black women whose experiences, pains, and affections resonate through literature.
The Wing 12 costume materializes this heritage of insurgent words, transforming the pages of Cadernos Negros into movement, color, and narrative on the Sapucaí. Writing — which in Evaristo’s work is collective memory and denunciation — takes shape in the parade as an affirmation of life and continuity.
Reflecting on the creative process, carnival designer Renato Esteves highlights the symbolic strength of this reference. “‘Cadernos Negros’ is more than a literary landmark. It is an archive of survivals. By bringing this image to the avenue, we aim to show that the word written by Black hands not only resists but creates new possibilities of existence. Each costume in this wing is a living page of this legacy,” he says.
