Barreiras da Polícia Militar operam também com reconhecimento facial e reforçam a segurança em todos os acessos de pessoas à orla

Antes mesmo de começar a festa, turistas e moradores do Rio que chegam nesta quarta-feira (31/12) à praia de Copacabana, Zona Sul da capital Fluminense, para celebrar a virada do ano se deparam com a segurança reforçada pelo Governo do Estado. Ao passar por um dos pontos de revista montados nos acessos à orla, é possível perceber a organização do esquema especial preparado para o Réveillon 2026, assim como nos últimos anos, com controle rigoroso de entrada e orientação constante dos policiais militares. A medida tem sido bem recebida por quem pretende acompanhar a maior festa de fim de ano do país com tranquilidade.

É o caso da turista de São Paulo, Beatriz de Araújo, que vai passar a virada do ano nas areias de Copacabana pela primeira vez.

— Já passei em outros lugares do Rio, mas nunca me senti tão à vontade de fazer isso na areia e eu me senti bastante segura chegando agora e tendo a minha bolsa revistada. Eu segui as instruções sobre o que podia e o que não podia e eu me senti muito segura. Eu acho que esse é um caminho que deixa todo mundo com uma segurança maior — afirmou.

A carioca Valdinéa de Souza também elogiou a estrutura montada.

— O Governo do Estado tem que fazer isso mesmo, tem que revistar todo mundo — ressaltou.

17 barreiras no Leme e Copacabana

Ao todo, a operação conta com 17 barreiras de segurança em Copacabana e no Leme, equipadas com tecnologia de reconhecimento facial e detectores de metal. As barreiras ajudam a impedir a entrada de objetos perigosos, como armas, garrafas de vidro, fogos de artifício e todos os outros artefatos que representam riscos para o público.

Somente em Copacabana, 3.500 policiais e 182 viaturas, incluindo motos e quadriciclos, reforçam o policiamento durante a virada do ano. Todo o esquema está integrado ao Centro Integrado de Comando e Controle (CICC), garantindo monitoramento em tempo real e resposta rápida a qualquer ocorrência.

O policiamento é reforçado ainda com 78 torres de observação, distribuídas pelo canteiro central, calçadão, espelho d’água e no entorno dos três palcos, 70 pontos de baseamento de viaturas e uma aeronave do Grupamento Aeromóvel (GAM).

Even before the celebration begins, tourists and Rio de Janeiro residents arriving this Wednesday (12/31) at Copacabana Beach, in the South Zone of the state capital, to celebrate the turn of the year are met with reinforced security provided by the State Government. As they pass through one of the screening checkpoints set up at the entrances to the beachfront, it is possible to notice the organization of the special operation prepared for New Year’s Eve 2026, as in recent years, with strict entry control and constant guidance from Military Police officers.
The measure has been well received by those who plan to enjoy the country’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration with peace of mind. This is the case of tourist Beatriz de Araújo, from São Paulo, who will spend New Year’s Eve on the sands of Copacabana for the first time.
“I’ve been to other places in Rio before, but I’ve never felt so comfortable doing this on the beach. I felt very safe arriving here and having my bag searched. I followed the instructions about what was allowed and what wasn’t, and I felt very secure. I think this is a path that makes everyone feel safer,” she said.
Rio native Valdinéa de Souza also praised the structure in place. “The State Government really has to do this — everyone has to be searched,” she emphasized.
17 barriers in Leme and Copacabana
Overall, the operation includes 17 security barriers in Copacabana and Leme, equipped with facial recognition technology and metal detectors. The barriers help prevent the entry of dangerous objects such as weapons, glass bottles, fireworks, and any other items that pose risks to the public.
In Copacabana alone, 3,500 police officers and 182 vehicles — including motorcycles and quad bikes — reinforce policing during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. The entire operation is integrated with the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC), ensuring real-time monitoring and a rapid response to any incidents.
Policing is further reinforced with 78 observation towers distributed along the central median, promenade, reflecting pool, and around the three stages, 70 vehicle staging points, and one aircraft from the Aeromobile Group (GAM).
