10h30 –O prefeito Eduardo Paes entrega a chave da cidade para a Corte Real do Carnaval – Rei Momo, rainha e princesas – oficializando o início da festa no Rio.
Local: Palácio da Cidade – Rua São Clemente, 360, Botafogo.
17h30 – O prefeito acompanha os desfiles das Escolas de Samba Mirins, que abrem oficialmente o carnaval no Sambódromo.
Ponto de encontro: segundo recuo da bateria, entre os setores 9 e 11.

10h30 – Mayor of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes will hand the keys to the the city to the Royal Court of Carnival – King Momo, the Queen and the Princesses – the official start of the festivities in Rio.
Venue: Palácio da Cidade – Rua São Clemente, 360, Botafogo.
17h30 – The Mayor attends the Children’s Samba Schools Parades which officially open the Carnival at the Sambadrome
Meeting point: the “segundo recuo da bateria”, between sectors 9 and 11.

20h – The Mayor watches the parade of the Access Group’s Samba Schools and welcomes its members in the the “segundo recuo da bateria”, between sectors 9 and 11.

21h – The Mayor watches the first night of the parade of the Special Group’s Samba Schools and welcomes its members in the the “segundo recuo da bateria”, between sectors 9 and 11.
