Unidos do Jacarezinho Celebrates Anniversary with a Mangueira Show This Friday

Celebration starts at 8 PM at the samba hall with free admission

Unidos do Jacarezinho, which recently turned 59, is preparing a major celebration this Friday, June 20, to mark the occasion in grand style. Returning to the Marquês de Sapucaí in the upcoming carnival, the school will host a festive night featuring Estação Primeira de Mangueira at its headquarters, starting at 8 PM, with free admission.

In addition to performances by the school’s segments and the presentation of the 2026 team, the celebration will open with a performance by the group Samba Bom. The event will feature a special show prepared by the Jacarezinho team for the occasion. Closing the night, the pink and white school from Jacarezinho will welcome its godmother, the iconic green and pink Mangueira, for a headline show.

Unidos do Jacarezinho was born from the merger of three samba groups: Unidos do Morro Azul, with blue and pink colors, founded on March 28, 1946, by Dona Andressa Moreira da Silva, a community leader and one of the first women to preside over a samba school; Unidos do Jacaré, with green and pink colors; and the carnival bloco “Não Tem Mosquito”, which wore red and white.

In 2026, the school will be the first to perform on the Sapucaí on Carnival Friday, February 13, competing in the Série Ouro. The school’s rehearsal venue is located at Avenida Dom Hélder Câmara, nº 2233.
