Número de empresas abertas por mulheres cresce no Estado do Rio de Janeiro

De 2022 até maio deste ano, foram registrados 117.967 novos negócios

O empreendedorismo feminino segue em expansão no Rio de Janeiro. Dados da Junta Comercial do Estado (Jucerja) mostram um avanço consistente no número de empresas abertas por mulheres desde 2022. Naquele ano, foram registrados 33.280 novos negócios liderados por mulheres em todo o estado. Em 2023, o número subiu levemente, para 33.298. Já em 2024, o crescimento foi mais expressivo: 34.862 empresas abertas por mulheres, representando um aumento de 4,6% em relação ao ano anterior.

A tendência de alta se mantém em 2025. Somente entre janeiro e maio, foram abertas 16.527 empresas por mulheres no estado — um salto de 18,5% na comparação com o mesmo período de 2024, segundo a Jucerja. O resultado reforça o protagonismo feminino no cenário econômico fluminense e aponta para mais um ano de recordes na formalização de negócios liderados por mulheres.

– Ver esse avanço do empreendedorismo feminino no nosso estado é motivo de orgulho. As mulheres fluminenses estão ocupando cada vez mais espaços de liderança, movimentando a economia e transformando realidades com seus negócios. Nosso papel é garantir um ambiente favorável, com menos burocracia, mais crédito e oportunidades para que essas iniciativas prosperem. Estimular o protagonismo feminino no setor produtivo é investir no futuro do Rio de Janeiro – comentou o governador Cláudio Castro.

De acordo com a Jucerja, de janeiro a junho, os municípios que tiveram maior número de empresas abertas por mulheres foram o Rio de Janeiro, com 8.450 novos negócios; Niterói, com 1.330; Duque de Caxias, com 542; Nova Iguaçu, com 445; e São Gonçalo, com 439 novas empresas lideradas por empreendedoras femininas.

– Esse avanço não é apenas um dado estatístico, mas um reflexo claro e contundente do sucesso das políticas públicas e iniciativas que o Governo do Estado tem implementado em prol do empreendedorismo feminino, e para garantir um ambiente mais favorável e equitativo para as mulheres que desejam empreender. O sucesso dessas políticas é um testemunho do potencial ilimitado das mulheres fluminenses e da nossa crença no poder transformador do empreendedorismo – comemorou a secretária de Desenvolvimento Econômico, Indústria, Comércio e Serviços, Fernanda Curdi.

Para o presidente da Jucerja, Sergio Romay, esse crescimento está diretamente relacionado à modernização dos serviços oferecidos à população fluminense:

– Nos cinco primeiros meses de 2025, as empresas abertas por mulheres já representam 45% do total de novos negócios registrados no estado, que chegou a 36.411. Um dado expressivo, que confirma o protagonismo feminino no cenário empresarial fluminense. Os números reforçam que as políticas públicas voltadas ao empreendedorismo feminino estão encontrando respaldo na prática. Continuamos comprometidos em ampliar esse suporte, oferecendo um ambiente cada vez mais desburocratizado, simplificado e ágil para a formalização de negócios – destacou Romay.

Number of Women-Owned Businesses Grows in the State of Rio de Janeiro

From 2022 to May of this year, 117,967 new businesses have been registered

Female entrepreneurship continues to expand in Rio de Janeiro. Data from the State Board of Trade (Jucerja) show a steady increase in the number of businesses opened by women since 2022. That year, 33,280 new businesses led by women were registered throughout the state. In 2023, the number rose slightly to 33,298. In 2024, growth was more significant: 34,862 businesses opened by women, representing a 4.6% increase compared to the previous year.

The upward trend continues in 2025. Between January and May alone, 16,527 businesses were opened by women in the state — an 18.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to Jucerja. The results underscore women’s growing leadership in Rio’s economy and point to another record-setting year for the formalization of women-led businesses.

“Seeing this growth in female entrepreneurship in our state is a source of pride. Women in Rio are increasingly occupying leadership roles, driving the economy, and transforming lives through their businesses. Our role is to ensure a favorable environment with less bureaucracy, more credit, and opportunities for these initiatives to thrive. Encouraging women’s leadership in the productive sector is an investment in Rio de Janeiro’s future,” said Governor Cláudio Castro.

According to Jucerja, from January to June, the municipalities with the highest number of businesses opened by women were: Rio de Janeiro, with 8,450 new businesses; Niterói, with 1,330; Duque de Caxias, with 542; Nova Iguaçu, with 445; and São Gonçalo, with 439 businesses led by female entrepreneurs.

“This growth is not just a statistic, but a clear and powerful reflection of the success of the public policies and initiatives that the State Government has implemented to support female entrepreneurship, creating a more favorable and equitable environment for women who wish to start businesses. The success of these policies is a testament to the unlimited potential of women in Rio and our belief in the transformative power of entrepreneurship,” celebrated Fernanda Curdi, Secretary of Economic Development, Industry, Trade, and Services.

For Jucerja president Sergio Romay, this growth is directly linked to the modernization of services provided to the state’s population:

“In the first five months of 2025, businesses opened by women already represent 45% of all new companies registered in the state, which totaled 36,411. This is a significant figure that confirms the growing leadership of women in the business sector of Rio. The numbers show that public policies aimed at promoting female entrepreneurship are effectively taking root. We remain committed to expanding this support by offering an increasingly simplified, streamlined, and agile environment for business formalization,” highlighted Romay.
